Help us design the parks at the heart of Landcom and Orange City Council's new 330-home neighbourhood

Landcom is working with Orange City Council to build a new residential neighbourhood that will increase and diversify housing options for this growing regional city.

The project will unlock 25 hectares of Council-owned land at Orange’s eastern entrance to deliver 330+ homes. A mix of housing types including single dwellings, duplexes, town houses and low-rise apartments will provide people with greater choice and affordability.

As part of this project we'll be creating over five hectares of new open space, across:

  • a northern park with a family focus, with space for a 600m² playground for ages 0-12
  • a central park with a youth focus, with space for play equipment and sports practise courts
  • two pocket parks
  • boardwalks and gathering space around a southern wetland.

Thank you for sharing your ideas and feedback as part of our open space design process. We received 41 survey responses, held a pop-up consultation session and a school workshop with students at Canobolas Rural Tech High School.

In response to feedback, we have:

  • favoured a hybrid use of natural and synthetic/modern materials
  • redesigned the northern and central park away from a distinct 'family' and 'youth' focus to incorporate the needs of all in both parks
  • added a flying fox to playground plans.

The development application was placed on exhibition by Orange City Council in August 2025 and is currently being reviewed.
