Calling all Macarthur Heights residents — it’s time to grab your camera or phone and show off the wild side of your neighbourhood! Whether it’s a cheeky kookaburra, a blooming native flower, or a peaceful bushland scene, we want to see the nature that makes your area special.

Macarthur Heights is full of natural beauty — from the brand-new Lake Thomson precinct to the leafy bushland corridors. These spaces aren’t just great for a stroll — they’re home to all kinds of native plants and animals. So get outside, get snapping, and show us what you find!

Before you begin
Before you proceed, please ensure that you have:
- reviewed the Terms & Conditions of entry.
- checked your photo entry meets the requirements specified. Any images submitted that do not meet requirements will not be judged or be eligible to win. They also will not be republished.
- checked that your photograph/s are ready to upload. Each file must include the photograph title and name of the photographer eg: PHOTO_FIRST NAME LAST NAME
- written a short caption (maximum of 30 word for each photograph).
The requirements for photos are listed in the Terms & Conditions of Entry and include that:
- All photos must be in either .jpeg or png format
- Less than 10MB in size; and
- The filename must not contain the following characters \ / : * > “ < > \ ( )

- Unless indicated otherwise, winning entries and first names will be published on the Landcom website and shared online via social media.
- Winners will be contacted ahead of time during business hours.
Terms & Conditions of Entry
- Entry is free and open to everyone from 5 years old, although if you are 16 years or under, you will need your parent or guardian to consent.
- Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms & Conditions of Entry.
- Landcom ABN 79 260 268 688 of Level 14, 60 Station Street, Sydney NSW 2150 (Landcom) is the promoter and organizer of the Competition with nominated Landcom staff involved in the administration, coordination and judging.
- Landcom accepts no responsibility for any entries not received by the closing time and date for any reason whatsoever.
- This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram/Facebook.
- By entering, you agree to a complete release of Instagram/Facebook/ Website from any or all liability in connection with this competition.
- You acknowledge that, unless indicated otherwise, the photos and the participants’ first names may be published on Landcom’s social media pages and website in either digital or print formats.
- The participants and, if a child, their parent or guardian’s personal information including contact details will not otherwise be shared publicly by Landcom, except as contact information to administer the competition and if a prize is awarded.
- Staff of Landcom are ineligible to enter the Competition, as are their Immediate Families. ‘Immediate Families’ means any of the following: spouse (including same sex spouse), ex- spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, natural or adopted sibling, whether or not they live in the same household.
- Unless indicated otherwise, entrants in this competition give permission for their photographic works to be reproduced by print and electronic media by Landcom in not-for-profit publications, advertising and promotional purposes. Subject to their consent (or the consent of their parent or guardian if they are 16 years or under), Entrants will be acknowledged if the image is reproduced.
Requirements for photos
- To be eligible, all photographs submitted must be taken within Macarthur Heights.
- Images of fauna must meet the Ethical Photography Guidelines as specified on Campbelltown Council’s website, which includes that any images of fauna must not include flash photography. Any images of fauna with flash photography will not excluded from the Competition and will not be judged.
- Photographs may be black and white or colour.
- Photos must be taken within the last 4 months.
- Each entrant may enter a maximum of three photographs in the competition, any excess images submitted will not be considered for judging.
- Entries must be submitted online in the manner and format described. Photos submitted in any other way or in any other format will not be eligible for judging.
- Late entries will not be accepted nor will they be eligible for judging.
- Entrants acknowledge and confirm that the content of all photographs have not been changed or manipulated in any way; that is, no cloning, montaging, or digital manipulation other than cropping, toning, digital spotting, burning, dodging. No Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated imagery is permitted. Additionally, no addition or removal of subject matter is accepted. Retouching is limited to the removal of normal scratches and dust spots. Colour adjustment must be minimal.
- Professional photographers who have made more than $500 in photography sales in the 2024/2025 financial year are not eligible to enter.
Who decides who wins
- Winners will be decided by a panel of judges comprising Landcom staff. The judge’s decisions are final.
- This competition is a game of skill and chance plays no part in the selection of the winning photos. The entries will be judged for their creativity and skill in representing the flora and fauna of Macarthur Heights.
Prizes
- Landcom in its sole discretion reserves the right to determine the allocation of prizes, which are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash. Prizes will be issued with an expiry date and conditions of use. It is the responsibility of winners to redeem the gift cards in accordance with their conditions of use.
- Winners will be contacted by Landcom to accept their prize, using the contact information provided. In the event winners cannot be contacted by midday Monday 24 November 2025, Landcom will award the prize to the entry judged next best in that age group and reissue any unclaimed prizes.
Privacy
- Personal information collected by Landcom will be used solely for the purposes of administering the “Nature in your neighbourhood” photography competition and awarding the prize. It will only be disclosed in accordance with the Terms & Conditions of Entry.

Award theme and categories
- Each submission must represent the theme “Nature in your neighbourhood”. Think about what kinds of plants and animals live in the wild around your home such as trees, flowers, birds and lizards. Each photo much be submitted with a fun fact about the plant/s and/or animal/s that you have photographed.
- The competition is divided into two age categories:
- Child (aged between 5 and 18 years) ($500 Coles Group & Myer Corporate Gift Card)
- Adult (aged over 18 years) ($500 Coles Group & Myer Corporate Gift Card)
