Delivering long-term housing security for renters in Bomaderry

In the midst of the current housing crisis, the NSW Government has tasked Landcom to deliver a pilot build-to-rent project on the South Coast where the community is impacted by rising rents and low housing availability.

Landcom is proposing to build 60 homes for long-term rent on the corner of Beinda Street and Bolong Road. The concept design complies with planning controls which allow for a two-to-three storey building above ground level carparking on site. At least 20% of the homes will be affordable for low and moderate income households such as the key workers who keep our cities and towns moving, including retail and childcare workers, nurses and teachers.

Build-to-rent is purpose-built housing designed to be rented out to provide long-term housing security for renters.

The project is part of the NSW Government’s  build-to-rent program, through which we are delivering pilot projects on the South Coast and in the Northern Rivers. Our ambition is to evolve the pilot projects into a program funded by the NSW Government to secure homes for hard working people in regional areas experiencing housing stress.

Community consultation

We invited community feedback on a concept plan, to inform and help finalise the development application we submitted to Shoalhaven City Council in late April 2024.

Several meetings were held with local community groups between December 2023 and February 2024, an in-person community information and feedback session was held at the Bomaderry Bowling Club on 29 February 2024, and a virtual engagement room was open until 18 March 2024. To learn more, read the engagement summary report.

The community will be able to provide feedback about the development application and supporting documents when this is publicly exhibited by Council.

We will continue to keep neighbours and the community informed about the planning and construction process.
